Hi Everyone,

I was talking to my mum recently and she was telling me how she wasn’t getting much fruit from her fruit trees because the birds kept pecking at it before she got to it. Reminded of when God told Abram to make a sacrifice and the birds of prey, or vultures swooped down to eat the carcasses, (Genesis 15:11) is says, “Some vultures swooped down to eat the carcasses but Abram chased them away.”

Read Genesis 15:1-21.

It was God’s covenant Promise with Abram. I began thinking about how it’s the same with us. God has made a covenant with us, sealed with the precious Blood of Jesus, (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) Jesus says in vs 25. “..This cup is the new covenant between God and His people – an agreement confirmed with MY BLOOD…”

It’s a covenant of Salvation, healing, deliverance etc. which we take by faith in the death a resurrection of Jesus Christ, but we have an enemy (satan) which is always trying to swoop down, like the vultures and peck at it to steal it from us.

‘How?’ You might ask. He comes in the form of doubt and fear! If he can get us to doubt what God has promised us in the Word, like he did in the garden of Eden with EVE (Genesis 3) same enemy, same question, same deception, then he can steal it from us.

So what do we do when fear and doubt begin to fill our minds? Do what Abram did, shoo those vultures away! (Hebrews 10:23) says…

“God can be trusted to keep His promise.”

If God has given us a promise in His Word, you be sure that it will never change and so we can claim it for our lives. So this week let’s be more aware of the vultures attacking our minds and shoo them away!

“All He (God) asks for is that simplicity of faith which will take Him at His Word” (J. Salter)

“We must remember that the most important thing in receiving God’s blessings in not our great faith but His great faithfulness.” (J. Meyer)
